Water quality detection covers a wide range of applications, including medical wastewater, domestic sewage, industrial wastewater, and other monitoring scenarios. During testing, large deviations in measured data may occur due to various external factors.
It has been reported that negative values occasionally appear in silica detection in boiler water. To date, such phenomena have not been recorded among partners of MuDi Instruments. Nevertheless, such occurrences cannot be entirely ruled out. Technical analysis by professional personnel is required to identify the specific causes, which may include instrument malfunctions or operational errors by laboratory staff. Detailed root-cause analysis must be conducted on a case-by-case basis.
MODI Instruments (Hangzhou) has developed a dedicated analyzer for measuring silica content in water, designated as the SiO₂-8000 Online Silica Analyzer. This instrument adopts the internationally standardized heteropoly molybdenum blue method for continuous monitoring of silica or silicate concentrations in aqueous solutions.
Working Principle
After filtration, the water sample is delivered to the reaction chamber. A masking agent is added to eliminate interfering substances, and the pH of the solution is adjusted to an appropriate range. A specific color reagent is then introduced to induce chromogenic reaction. The absorbance of the reacted solution is measured, and the silica concentration in the water sample is quantified based on the absorbance value.
Application Scope
The analyzer is widely applied in boiler water, condensate water, power plant make-up water, boiler feedwater, and other water quality monitoring scenarios.

The SiO₂–8000 Online Silica Analyzer is equipped with an advanced self-diagnosis and early warning system, which issues an alert signal in the event of sudden water sample interruption. It also performs automatic zero adjustment for each sample analysis cycle.
