Any product or engineering project is subject to specific requirements and standards. For instance, when a manufacturer procures a water quality detector, its selection criteria typically include budget, functional specifications, and other parameters, with the goal of selecting an instrument that aligns with these predefined standards. However, how can one verify whether water quality itself complies with relevant standards? This article aims to address this question.

Visually observable indicators—such as abnormal water color or the presence of suspended solids—can suggest the existence of pollutants. Nevertheless, some contaminants are not detectable by the naked eye. In such cases, water quality testing and analysis must be conducted using specialized instruments and corresponding reagents. The resulting analytical data serve as the basis for judging whether water quality meets the relevant standards.

Take drinking water factories as an example: their water sources are often natural mountain water, which is clear and rich in minerals beneficial to human health, making it suitable for processing into drinking water. However, anthropogenic activities may introduce harmful substances into such water sources. Thus, prior to human consumption, rigorous testing is essential to confirm compliance with relevant water quality standards.

Water quality testing instruments offer the advantage of real-time and accurate monitoring of the specific concentrations of various water quality indicators. However, they have limitations: in cases of extremely turbid or poor-quality water, the instruments may produce inaccurate data, rendering them unsuitable for use. In such scenarios, pre-treatment of the water sample is required before conducting formal testing.

For instance, chemical leaks or discharges into rivers can lead to severe environmental pollution, and in extreme cases, even human fatalities. Additionally, natural disasters may also cause water contamination. In such situations, water quality testing is necessary to determine whether the water has been polluted. This type of water quality detector is applicable to water quality testing and research in environmental protection agencies, industrial facilities, and other research institutions.
