Water is an essential resource for the development of human life. Consequently, water quality issues have naturally become a focus of our attention. In the case of heavy rainfall leading to floods, conducting effective Online Water Quality Monitoring is not only necessary but also requires enhanced efforts. This paper aims to provide a brief exploration of the issues regarding flood monitoring after heavy rain.
The systematic process of flood monitoring mainly comprises components such as the system monitoring center, transmission units, and monitoring equipment. It is equipped with functions for monitoring the system’s operating status, remote control operations, and video surveillance. By utilizing water quality monitoring instruments, it is crucial to carry out comprehensive monitoring of small and medium-sized rivers after heavy rain. Apart from closely monitoring parameters such as humidity, temperature, rainfall, and wind speed, real-time monitoring of various pollutants in the water is also essential to determine whether they exceed the established standards. Once any issues are detected, immediate measures should be taken to address them.
For example, online monitoring of industrial wastewater, domestic sewage, agricultural effluent, and medical wastewater cannot be underestimated. Such wastewater must undergo appropriate treatment. Only after thorough monitoring of various indicators and confirmation of compliance can it be discharged. Moreover, during heavy rain, every effort should be made to prevent severely polluted water sources from infiltrating into otherwise normal water sources. After heavy rain, water treatment plants play a crucial role in treating relevant water sources to ensure that the public does not use water sources that have been contaminated by the runoff from heavy rain.
